
Vanilla Orchid, a dazzling exotic beauty
In 1895, Estelle Arpels, daughter of a precious stone trader married Alfred Van Cleef, son of a diamond dealer. While their love is unconditional, they also share the love of gemstones. In 1906, the couple founded the Van Cleef & Arpels house, which they naturally set up on Place Vendôme.
The brand will know, a success never denied and Van Cleef & Arpels is known for making jewelry and jewelry sets of incomparable quality. It was in 1976 that the brand launched into perfumery with “First” . In 2009, the brand will unveil “Orchidée Vanille”, a most exotic fragrance.

Here, the Van Cleef & Arpels house makes us discover vanilla in many facets, but especially as we rarely see it. “Orchidée Vanille” is part of the “Extraordinary Collection” of Van Cleef & Arpels, whose main vocation is to highlight a noble and natural ingredient. If the vanilla is at the same time soft, sweet and greedy, it is the exotic facet which will nevertheless dominate the fragrance. Vanilla is the fruit of a green orchid, native to Mexico.
It was the Spaniards who discovered vanilla in the 16th century. In 1630, King Louis XIV ordered that vanilla vines be brought to Reunion Island to be planted there. In 1964, thanks to the creation of the AOC “Vanille Bourbon”, the Vanille Bourbon from Madagascar, that of Mayotte, Mauritius and Reunion are brought together to benefit from the appellation “Vanille Bourbon”. The presence of the orchid alongside the vanilla reinforces the exotic side, the elegance and the femininity of the “Orchidée Vanille” fragrance.
Orchidée Vanille, a fragrance between indulgence and sensuality
“Orchidée Vanille” transports us through exotic lands and offers us a most exotic journey. Soft and warm, vanilla is here accompanied by floral, fruity and woody notes, cradled by languid musks. It is a perfumer who knows vanilla perfectly well, Randa Hammami, who is at the origin of this composition.
The fragrance begins with the association of lychee with mandarin for a tangy and sweet side, but which transports us from the start to these bright exotic lands. Then the heart of “Orchidée Vanille” takes on very feminine floral notes and combines vanilla with Bulgarian rose and violet flower. Finally, the base of “Vanilla Orchid” is intended to be as exotic as it is sensual thanks to the presence of white musks, Toul balm and cedar wood to leave an unforgettable trail behind.
The bottle of “Orchidée Vanille” is the same as all those in the “Extraordinary Collection” of the Van Cleef & Arpels brand. Rectangular in shape, it features an imposing glass. In the center, a sober embossed label indicates the name of the perfume as well as a number. The latter corresponds to the test number chosen by the Van Cleef & Arpels house.
