Infusion d’Iris de Prada, a luxurious dive into the heart of Italy

Infusion d’Iris is a perfume from the Prada house which was born in 2007 and which was imagined by a duo of women, namely Miuccia Prada and Daniela Andrier. It is a woody, elegant and modern oriental, whose name is inspired by the ancient method of producing iris extract. It is then captured in a bottle with an allure as refined as its smell reminiscent of the luxury perfumeries of yesteryear. It is a sort of modern adaptation of the brand’s classic codes. Infusion d’Iris is an invitation to dream of an Italian trip.

Prada puts iris in the spotlight

This fragrance follows on from Prada Amber. The latter then invented a modern amber accord. Also, with Infusion d’Iris, Prada continues its exploration of the legendary raw materials of perfumery. Here it is the iris, a particularly noble ingredient. Indeed, the iris is one of the rarest and therefore the most expensive elements of the perfumer’s entire palette. It is therefore very often used in luxury perfumery. Moreover, it is not the flower that is used but the rhizomes. The main effect of this extraction method is to give the iris absolute the richness of the earth. Finally, it gives off a multitude of olfactory sensations. It is floral while being powdery but also green and woody. The scent of this flower also evokes Italian scents, both sensual but not lacking in boldness or character. Infusion d’Iris then becomes an invitation to dream and travel. It is a halftone composition, both light and tenacious, just like the iris. Prada signs a timeless perfume suitable for all ages and not responding to a specific fashion. It is ultra-feminine and appropriates the codes of Prada’s luxury universe. What is more, its bottle recalls the design of the cases of yesteryear and seems just as timeless. Moreover, it uses the historic logo of the Prada house, designed in 1919 and including the coat of arms and the knots of the House of Savoy. Its silhouette is modern and offers pure lines. Finally, its cap reveals the taste of Prada for innovation, we can see its metal cover covered with a fine pale green embossed paper. The carnal scent of Infusion d’Iris

The smell of Infusion d’Iris, meanwhile, was imagined by Daniela Andrier. The latter wanted to work with the iris Pallida of Florence, the quality of which is recognized as being one of the best in the world. It is then treated with the greatest care. From its top notes, it is accompanied by the citrus scent of mandarin, associated with the luminosity of orange blossom. It therefore has, thanks to this mixture, a little Cologne side. However, the Iranian galbanum does not take long to contrast this scent. It brings a green and earthy note, and is associated with the warmth of Mediterranean mastic. Finally, vetiver and cedar give it a more woody note. Moreover, the latter is even surprisingly overdosed for a feminine perfume. However, this in no way detracts from its charm. On the contrary, its sensuality is only heightened. The whole then ends with a rich accord of benzoin and incense bringing a most carnal sweetness.
