Classic Jean-Paul Gaultier, the embodiment of femininity

Jean-Paul Gaultier born in 1952, in Arcueil, in the Paris region. After school, in the evening, he works for the Pierre Cardin house, and thus fails his exams. He then joined the Jacques Esterel company and afterwards the Jean Patou brand. It was in 1982 that he founded his own house. “The terrible child of fashion”, as it is nicknamed, displays an unconventional, even provocative style. In 1993, Jean-Paul Gaultier presented his first “Classic” fragrance, an essence that represents the feminine ideal, and whose famous bottle never ceases to make people talk about it.

The woman according to Jean-Paul Gaultier

When Jean-Paul Gaultier opened his fashion house, his goal was to embellish and sublimate the curves of women. He wanted to anchor women in something timeless, eternal. If it was Jean-Paul’s grandmother who introduced him to sewing, “Classique” draws on the past to appropriate a scent of today. The smell of “Classic” is indeed inspired by old rice powders, but also “old” lipsticks. The result will be an ultra feminine essence, the perfect embodiment of woman. “Classic” reveals an oriental and floral fragrance, at the same time sensual, aphrodisiac and warm. “Classic” is a fragrance of promise that intoxicates us and transports us to new emotions.

The contrasting notes of Classic

The beginning of “Classic” is made thanks to citrus notes, that of lemon and bergamot. They then mingle with the luminosity of the orange blossom. The heart of “Classic” is ultra feminine, as it is composed of a beautiful bouquet of flowers, rose, jasmine, tuberose, and ylang-ylang. These floral tones are enhanced by hints of ginger. Finally, the base is suave and sensual thanks to the presence of vanilla and amber.

As for the bottle, it is a legend in itself. Shaped like a feminine corset, the bottle is a true tribute of the couturier to women, even if the bust is inspired by Madonna’s body, also reminiscent of the busts once used by seamstresses. To the bust, there are also corset and garter belts in polished glass which inevitably sublimate the woman’s body, with hedonistic and delicate curves. The bottle is dressed for the occasion in a fleshy and sensual color , and its case is somewhat diverted from its usual function, because it is nothing other than a silver tin can… A playful wink!

Jean-Paul Gaultier’s first fragrance, “Classique” sublimates women. The fragrance, with its corset-shaped bustier, offers a luminous, radiant and ultra sensual essence. The bustier will become the icon of the brand, dressing at each occasion, in a new outfit.
