The 2018 Classic Limited Edition by Jean Paul Gaultier
Jean-Paul Gaultier is a character who likes to draw his sources of inspiration from his deepest memories. He often remembers learning to sew with his grandmother. One day, at her house, he discovered a corset at the bottom of a forgotten trunk. It was a real revelation for him. From this childhood discovery, he made one of the most famous fragrances in the history of female perfumery: the Classique perfume by Gaultier, born in 1993 . Since 1996, Jean-Paul Gaultier has developed the habit of declining his fragrance in the form of fresher and summer fragrances. These limited editions often appear in the spring and this is how Jean-Paul Gaultier is currently presenting his latest novelty: the Classique André Edition.
The new urban bottle of the Classique André Edition
As usual, the Classique André Edition is packaged in the designer’s famous tin can. Its metallic color is this time surrounded by a large red band labeled with #I Love Gaultier. At the center of it is the character Madame A of the graffiti artist André, both simplistic but very expressive. Moreover, this feminine figure and a bit of childishness is also invited on the glass bust bottle of Jean-Paul Gaultier. The creator’s corset is this time decorated with countless pink stripes, dark at the base of the bottle and lighter at the top. The whole is in a 100 ml format.

A collaboration between Jean-Paul Gaultier and the graffiti artist André
This unique design is the work of André, André Saraiva (his real name). Born in Sweden, of Portuguese origin and living in France, he is above all considered one of the most influential graffiti artists today. This Parisian night king exhibits in all the largest contemporary art museums in the world, like those in Tokyo, Los Angeles, Paris or Venice. Renowned for his work as an artist, although denigrated by some as “vandal”, he does not hesitate to claim “that writing [his] name on the walls is [his] neurosis”. Here he gives us one of his most famous works: a portrait of Madame A for the unique Jean-Paul Gaultier.
The unchanged scent of the Classique Eau Fraiche
On the scent side, however, the surprise is less. Indeed, Jean-Paul Gaultier has decided to keep the perfumed breath of the previous Classic Betty Boop and Wonder Woman , the respective Fresh Waters of 2016 and 2017. This olfactory composition is the work of Daphné Bugey. The Classique André Edition by Jean-Paul Gaultier first takes off on a fresh and peppery alliance of lemon sorbet and ginger. Sugar cane nonetheless softens this explosive duo. Then, a floral and very sunny heart takes over. It combines orange blossom, jasmine and tiare flower. Little by little, the Classique André Edition becomes more syrupy and warm. It ends with the presence of vanilla, musk and cistus.
